Ever since Birchbox became a household name, We loved the idea! Now it seems like there is a box for every possible taste.

Even though the Betties aren’t in the monthly subscription box business, we wanted to create something that featured fabulous goodies for women entrepreneurs just like you.  But those of you who know us, know that we had to do it in our own Betty way.

Each month we personally curate items we’re sure you’ll love. Once we get our hand on them, we use our photography and design superpowers to show you just how awesome they are, and then we give you our honest opinion about each one. These are items we choose because we think they’re beautiful and clever.

If there’s a product you think we should know about, send us an email. It could end up being featured!

Marsala is so much more than a delicious red wine to fill your glass, or a go-to way to prepare chicken.

Each year, everyone in the design world waits patiently for Pantone to release it’s color forecast.  This newly selected group of hues defines the trends that you’ll see for the rest of the year. From this group of colors, there is an ultimate color, one to be named the color of the year. The color for 2015 is lovingly referred to as Marsala.  And it’s the perfect name for this shade of red. It’s deep and a bit murky, but rich.  Many people are on the fence about exactly how they feel about this color. I’m personally happy that the color of the year is a color that looks good on me. (That hasn’t always been the case. I’m looking at you, pastels.)

Today’s Betty Box will feature products that we’ve selected that you can keep the Marsala trend going in your own life, all year round.

Madison Sunglasses in Rum Cherry | Available at WarbyParker.com Pictured Above

We’ve been fangirls of Warby Parker for, like, ever. Whether you’re severely challenged in the eyesight department (like me), you want to look a little smarter, or you simply want to spare your precious eyes from UV rays, Warby Parker has stylish frames for the occassion. They have an at home try-on system (who wants to commit to a pair of specs with no idea what they’re going to look like?), and for each pair of glasses that are purchased, they donate a pair to people in need.

Best part, prices start at $95 dollars for a pair of glasses WITH prescription lenses.

bettybox_pantone_marsala1. Hunter Original Short Gloss Rain Boots in Damson | Available at Zappos.com

We’re smack dab in the middle of rainy, sleety, snowy winter here in Massachusetts, and a pair of rain boots will certainly get well worn. Even if it’s not winter in your neck of the woods, life’s too short not to splash in a few puddles (and look cute while doing it), right?

2.  Marine Glass Lamp in Coral | Available at Pier One Imports

The color of the year is not just for wearing, so let’s not limit ourselves to clothes, accessories and makeup. Maybe you’re in the market for a new light source for your office. Being the trendy bird you are, go for the Marsala hued lamp and give your office a rosy glow.

3. TarteLipSurgence™ hydrating lip crème in Carefree | Available at TarteCosmetics.com

Tarte Cosmetics: Free of chemical nasties (like parabens and phthalates), but overloaded with long lasting color and high quality ingredients. Tarte has been a staple in my makeup bag for years, and is easily available at shops like Sephora and Ulta as well as their online shop.

4. La Fiorentina Wine & Magenta Decorative Pillow Cover | Available on Etsy.com

Looking to give your living space a quick sprucing up and a push into 2015? No need to buy all new decor. Cover up your existing throw pillows with these Marsala patterned covers and call it a day.

5. Converse Chuck Taylor Sneakers in Burgundy | Available at Converse.com

I may have a Chuck Taylor addiction. It started out with one pair, just because they’re adorable yet casual and quite comfy. I’m up to three pairs, and trying so hard not to get a fourth, in Marsala of course.
